Uttar Pradesh 2017 Election ka Dangal

India is going to see a major elections fight in the biggest state of the country.  Uttar Pradesh plays a major role in the India political arena and is place where you can say "the party with majority in Lok Sabha" rules the country and the same with the state too.

Uttar Pradesh is well placed and connected to most part of the countries and also very near to Delhi. Uttar Pradesh has seen a significant development in last few years with Agra Express, Jamuna Highway Express, Women helpline 100 number and many other initiative taken by the Samajwadi Party.

The Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party are the two main political contenders in Uttar Pradesh. National political parties BJP and Congress also have important stakes in this politically significant state. 

In last election held in 2012, the seats of each party stands at : 
  • Bahujan samaj party - 80 seats  
  • BJP - 47 seats\
  • Nationalist Congress Party - 1 seat
  • INC - 28, 
  • Rashtriya Lok Dal - 9 seats
  • Samajwadi Party - 224 seats. 
Samajwadi party formed the government with Shri Akhilesh Yadav as the Chief Minister.

The Speaker of the state legislative assembly is Shri Mata Prasad Pandey. 

The Leader of the Opposition is Shri Swami Prasad Maurya of the Bahujan Samaj Party.


Uttar Pradesh is likely to go to elections between February and March 2017, after the Union Budget on February 1, 2017.  The Polling will held in seven phase according to the Election Commission of India.
